The bar was empty. On one hand, Joselyn preferred it this way because it meant she didn't have to socialize, but on the other hand, it meant that there was no one to toss their money her way. It wasn't like her salary was that great if she didn't make tips, so it was in her best interests to socialize. It was difficult to socialize, though, when there was no one in the bar. One man had come in, she thought it was a professor, but he'd only tossed her a couple quarters for his two beers before leaving. Next time he came in, she vowed to use a dirty glass.
Now, however, she was wiping water off of glasses. They were all clean, just sent up from the dishwasher, but Joselyn was certain that there was moisture on them. It was only when she was bored that any sense of domestic duty set in--otherwise, she was terrible at cleaning. She was much better at ordering people to clean for her, which the bar tended to frown upon unless there was a free bus boy. Unfortunately, the bus boys had decided to hide out in the kitchen until customers came. Everyone but Joss was hiding out in the kitchen, probably eating.
Joselyn didn't like the bar food, however, and never ate there unless she had to. She tried to bring a snack or something when she had things on hand, but that was rare and she usually just went from nine to two without food unless someone brought her something. She didn't expect anyone to tonight, since it seemed as though the rest of the world was too busy to come to the bar. Which was a shame, because Joselyn had her eye on a new Prada bag and, while her parents did give her a sizeable allowance, she preferred to pad it with her own income. She was used to a certain standard of living, after all.
Finishing up her last damp glass, she sighed. It was just past eleven on a Thursday and the bar was usually at least semi-crowded at this point. Joselyn herself could usually draw a crowd, since she dressed specifically for that purpose. This was strange. Though it might have been futile, Joselyn reached for her clutch to get her compact and lipstick. There was no one there to impress with the touchups, but she wanted to at least feel like she looked good.
