GENERAL INFO
To graduate with one degree, whether it's a double major or not, each student needs 120 credits. Each class, unless otherwise stated, is worth 3 credits. Majors have their amount of required credits, which means that you must take that amount in that department. The other credit hours are made up with required general education classes and minors. Any excess credits can be filled with the student's choice of classes. All minors require 12 credits unless otherwise stated. There are 31 gen ed credits.
Full-time students [i.e. everyone] must take at least 12 credits a semester. A full load is 18 credits. To take more classes than that [which is NOT advised], the student must request permission from the administration.
GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Each requirement is possible to get out of. It is ALSO possible that a student has completed his/her general education degree at a community college. Options are listed with the requirement.
- English Composition I and II
These requirements must be completed by the end of Freshman year. A 5 on the AP Literature or Language Exam will get a student out of both. A 3/4 on one gets them out of Comp I, a 3/4 on both gets out of Comp I&II. Students may have dual enrolled in these classes to finish them.
- 6 Math Credits
You may take any math class you wish. AP Math classes on which you have scored a 4 or 5 on the exam count as 3 credits. You may CLEP test out of both classes, but you must do it one at a time. CLEP tests cost $90. If you do not pass your CLEP test, you must wait 6 months before taking it again. This must be completed by the end of your second year.
- 6 Natural Science Credits + 1 Lab Credit
EACH science class comes with a 1 credit lab. Only one lab is required. You may CLEP out of biology, chemistry, or physics, but you may not CLEP out of the lab. This must be completed by the end of your second year.
- 12 Cultural Credits
Some AP history classes count towards credit. Contact an administrator to see if your AP classes counted. Must be completed before graduation
