Alchemy is a tab bit eccentric, but only in an artistic sense. When it comes to photography, she is well versed and extremely focused. She always carries her camera around with her for an opportunity to take a shot. Sometimes the world simply stops existing in a typical sense when Alchemy has a camera in hand. All she can see are perfect photographs to add to her collection. This level of focus and dedication was defiantly inherited from her parents. The walls of her room are filled with photographs she’s taken of her parents, her brother, places all over the world and her friends. At first, the people in Portland found it a little annoying when a thirteen year old Alchemy arrived and started taking pictures of everything. But in time, they grew used to her and her friends even started enjoying being in the spotlight of her lens.
Besides her absolute fascination with photography, Alchemy is a pretty normal girl. Her travels with her parents around the world made her cultured and pretty mature for her age. She was always taking care of her younger brother Paki whenever her parents were too focused on their work. Which was mostly always. She’s a realist, though she never considers herself cynical. Even so, at times she’s given to moments of pure fancy and visions of grandeur.
When she was a teenager, she was known for her quick temper and sometimes hostile attitude. People sometimes thought she was bitchy, or bipolar. This was because she was usually so fatigue from being unable to control her power. Some days the dark circles under her eyes were so server she seemed ill. But as time went on and she was able to control her gift more, her temperament started to even out.
Alchemy still gets teased about her temper, and when she looks like she hasn’t had a night of real sleep for a while, people start to treat her as though she might snap at any moment. This usually leads to throwing things. Because everyone knows that even if you’re not angry, if people act like you are, you end up angry.
But she’s friendlier these days and while she’s still obsessed with taking photographs, she also participates more in life. She goes to parties, but doesn’t usually drink and she doesn’t do drugs. Though she’s not above bumming a cigarette every once in a while though. Alchemy mostly goes to these social outings to be entertained by the countless drunk and strung out people around her. It’s not that she has a problem with people who drink (or to an extent, do drugs), she’s just doesn’t feel the need to participate.
Of course, there was a time when she was in high school where she experimented a little. Got black out drunk a couple times. She also tried weed, recreational Adderall, ecstasy, acid, and shrooms. And she only did it a couple times at most. Not enough to get addicted. Or perhaps it was always a mind over matter thing with her. She was completely aware that she was just trying it to try it, to see what happened. It never actually appealed to her enough to make it a habit. Nor did she want to spend all her hard earn money on drugs and booze. She was practical that way.
Strengths: This does not mean "helping others." This means the things your character is good at or the traits that they best display.
Weaknesses: A weakness isn't supposed to be like "my
weakness is chocolate" or "my weakness is my friends," a weakness is supposed to be something like "I have a huge ego about my own skills and cannot stand being told how I can improve." And note that it is plural.

The Summers are a pretty typical family. In the way the most atypical way possible. Her father Cedric is a world renowned ethologist specializing in the behavior of elephants. He was born in Portland, Maine but left to pursue his career in zoology and ethology. He always had a particular way with animals. During one of the many documentaries he participated in, he met a young Brittish filmmaker name Amanda Gilbert. She was a whimsical woman, an artist, and just as dedicated to her work as Cedric.
They were married for a time, giving life to Alchemy and, a year later, her younger brother Paki. It was a happy, although chaotic time in her life. They would spend a year or two at a time living on Wild Life Preserves while her father did his research. In between these times, the family would travel as Amanda made various documentaries and worked on independent films. But when Alchemy was seven, they split up. Her parents realized that their individual drive for their careers was a huge hindrance to their marriage.
After much discussion, they felt that the best thing for the children was to have them move to London with their mother for a more stability. It was a hard adjustment. The Summers kids were used to running around in the jungles of Africa and South Asian. They had been home schooled during this time and wasn’t used to having to wear uniforms or sit in a desk all day. At first, they struggled and the teachers thought the children had ADD. Amanda Summers was completely against the idea of placing the children on medication, knowing that they just needed time to adjust to their new environment. While Amanda was away filmmaking, they were in the care of their grandmother. Olivia Gilbert was a strict and traditional woman who was often at ends with her daughter. And she didn’t know how to deal with the wild children her daughter spawned. Amanda and Olivia often argued about how the children should be raised. One of the big arguments was what to do with the Summers siblings during the holidays. Amanda had made an agreement with Cedric that the children got to spend the holidays with him. But Olivia was against the idea. She would find ways to sabotage the children’s scheduled visits with their father. She only succeeded a handful of times over the years.
Around this time, two things happened. During one of Amanda’s trips away, Olivia consented to putting the children on Adderall. Amanda was furious when she returned and immediately took her children off it. A few weeks later, the children were sent to visit their father. During this trip, Cedric realized that his children weren’t happy so he suggested to Amanda sending their children to live with his younger brother Joe in the town he grew up in Maine. Being fed up with her mother’s undermining ways, Amanda agreed.
Later that year Alchemy and Paki boarded a plane with their parents and were brought to Portland, Maine to live with an Uncle they barely knew and probably only met a handful of times before. Alchemy was almost twelve at this time. Cedric and Amanda spent two weeks with the children helping to settle them in before leaving.
Joe Summers lived in the same house he and Cedric grew up with. He was only twenty-five at the time and didn’t really know how to handle children. At least the siblings were almost teenagers when they were brought to him. At first, Alchemy and Paki kept to themselves. They had been uprooted so many times and all they really knew was each other. Paki broke out of his shyness first. He was always a little more social that Alchemy and way more athletic. He joined the soccer team and school and started to soon have a large group of friends.
Alchemy took a little more time to be settled. She would walk around with a snap camera and take pictures of everything. It was a habit she had picked up when she was young. She would send copies of her photographs to her mother and father as a way of sharing her life with them over continents and oceans. For her thirteenth birthday, her mother sent her a proper camera. Somehow, this changed everything. While behind the lens, she was fearless. It didn’t matter that she was the weird girl who spent half her known life in the jungles, or that she had a faint indistinguishable accent from living in so many different places. Instead she became known as the girl with the camera and quick temper.
As time went on, her and her brother became close to their Uncle. He was a laidback guardian since he was so young himself. After seeing how focused and responsible the children were, he was willing to trust them to stay out late and make their own decisions. They made mistakes, like all teenagers do, and he tried his best to discipline them appropriately, but this was rarely. He understood when it came to Alchemy’s temper as he understood she was just cranky from a lack of restful sleep.
Alchemy eventually got accepted into MM for her outstanding photography portfolio.
